Time to Travel for Munnar
Munnar is located at an altitude of 1524 metres and is popular for the tea plantations, moutain trekking, water falls, and boat rides. Its cool weather makes it an ideal destination to stay and experience the beauty of the nature. Munnar belongs to the Idduki district of Kerala; however, the name Munnar refers to the wide tourist area which extends beyond Idduki.
Places To See In Munnar:
Munnar is famous for tea planatations, which makes this places green and beautiful. There are about 30 tea estates, most of them belonging to the Tata tea company. You can also wander around the tea estates for free with the permission of the estate managers. Visiting the tea museum can help you know how tea is manufactured right from hanpicking it in the form of tea leaf.
Mattupetty lake and dam, which are present at an altitude of 1700 metres, can give a beautiful view of mountains and tea plantations. Boating in Mattupetty lake and trekking around shola forests can make your trip a memorable one. In addition to this, Munnar offers attractions such as wildlife sanctuaries, waterfalls,fishing spots, sculptural rocks, and mountain peaks.
Traveling To Munnar:
The nearest railway station to Munnar is Kochi, which is about 134 Km from Munnar. Travel to Munnar from Kochi will take about 4 hours in car. The nearest airport to Munnar is Cochin International airport. The ride from airport to Munnar would take about 3 hours.
The climate in Munnar is pleasant, ranging from 10 C in winter to 25 C in summer. The best time to visit is from August to May.
