Outsourcing is to be Reduced – Obama
Posted on November 10, 2008 in Education by Shayani
Outsourcing, that had given so many Indians a good employment opportunity, is going to get down sized as a part of economic policy of Barack Obama, the new U.S. President. This is definitely a very bad news for Indians who had high expectations from this sector.
The Reasons that are Making Indians Worry:
- The top MNCs have already handed pink slips to so many employees all over India; this news is undoubtedly going to make the Indians feel more hopeless. Freshers would have no entry to this field as companies are not in a position even to keep its old employees.
- Indians earn 60% of the outsourcing contracts from the U.S., so, her withdrawal from the outsourcing field would mean a terrible blow to the ITans as well as for the country.
P. Chidambaram’s Take:
The Indian Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, is still optimistic and has to say that in this world of globalisation it is not easy to work without collaborating with another country. Let’s hope Obama believes in the same idea.
A Ray of Hope
There is still a lot of confidence in the industry as they are citing only political reasons to rationalise Obama’s statement. There are some in the industry who think that Obama had made such a comment only as a part of election campaigning and he has to keep a lot of things in mind before he actually implements something like this.
However, most think Obama actually meant this because stopping outsourcing means a whole lot of new job opportunities for Americans.
