A Guide To Diabetes Courses At MDRF, Chennai

The Madras Diabetes Research Foundation offers some unique course. Here is a guide to that:

  • Fellowship Diabetology for MBBS/MD: This is a 2-year resident fellowship programme for educating doctors who hold MBBS / MD, all features of Clinical Diabetology. A total of about 50 fellowship interns are out.
  • Fellowship Diabetic Eye Diseases For Opthalmologists: A two -year fellowship program open for Ophthalmologists.
  • P.G. Certification Diabetology Educators Course: MDRF has kicked off a 1 year full-time ‘P G Certificate in Diabetes’. The major goal of the lessons is to offer the essential skills and knowledge to turn out to be a Certified Diabetes Educator. Their aim is to promote the awareness on Diabetes in India.
  • Ph.D. Programs in Diabetes: Recognized by The University of Madras and Dr. MGR Medical University MDRF provides Ph. D courses on Diabetes. At present there are six guides and twenty students. MD Doctors, M. Phils and M. Scs are eligible for the course.
  • CME programs for General Practitioners:CME programs are conducted at intervals for the General Practitioners and also other specialists hailing from Chennai and adjoining areas. This is done in order to update their facts on diabetes.
  • Paramedical Training Course: Internship programs are conducted for nurses, bio-chemists, technicians, dietitians and other personnel related to paramedics.
  • Short-term research Program: The training program is on diabetes and its various complications. The rationale behind a short-term training program for undergrads and graduate students is to offer exposure to prospects inbuilt in research in Diabetes.
  • Summer Internships : The internship will give a two-month, full-time summer internship training program for at under-grads and also post graduate students. The intention of the Summer internship is for developing and expanding the research faculty among the graduate students for clinical practice for diabetes. The programme is intended to provide an extraordinary occasion to execute research in the field of diabetes in MDRF.
  • Training for epidemiologists and Master of Public Health (MPH) students: MPH (Master of Public Health) students and Epidemiologists are also trained at here.
