G-20 Meet to Focus on Global Economic Meltdown

The Bush administration is busy preparing for the Summit of Leaders of the Group of Twenty (G-20) to be held on November 10th, despite the market slowdown. The Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh is expected to attend the meeting.

The meeting, dubbed as a “Capitalism Summit” by some, will take place when the new US president- elect will take over on November 5th and Bush will be a “lame-duck” president. Apart from the G-20 member countries, Heads of the international Monetary Fund and World Bank will also attend the meeting.

The present global economic crisis and its implications will be discussed at the meeting. The members will try to understand the causes of the situation. Efforts will be made to ensure that it does not repeat again by evolving a common set of reform measures of institutional and regulatory regimes of the financial sectors.
