Engineering Dreams Come Crashing Down!!

Students pursue Engineering courses with a dream that after its completion they will land up in a good job complete with high salary, perks and a great standard of living . However, this might notr be the case thanks to the huge number of engineering colleges cropping up at every corners. The big question is whether or not their dreams will materialize in such a situation.

Some of the Problems Which Pose Obstacles

There are certain factors which are leading to the destruction of technical education. Some of the most important are given below:

Lack of Infrastructure- with so many private engineering colleges mushrooming everywhere it becomes quite obvious that all of them cannot provide the best amenities to the students. Giving out Laptops for free doesn’t really supplement the lack of good faculty members.

Faculty Shortage –The colleges are suffering from a draught of good faculties. According to the AICTE colleges have to maintain a 1:15 ratio of teacher student, but the real scenario is quite different. Though M.Tech or PHD holders are supposed to teach , many colleges recruit B.Tech lecturers pushing the quality of teaching further down.

Lack of Exposure - Presenting papers, holding seminars, industrial visits and projects are mandatory for all colleges but many colleges do not provide such a platform for its students.

Government policies –Some of the government policies are also to be blamed for this predicament. For example, 192 new engineering colleges have been permitted in the state of Andhra Pradesh in a single year. No wonder, the quality of education is suffering.

All the above taken together will only give us students with an engineering degree but no good engineers.
