Big Boss Gets in Trouble

Reality shows have become the fashion of the day. There are reality shows splashed all over the small screen. All channels seem to be engaged in a competition as to which one comes up with more reality shows and which one become more popular among the masses. In doing this some prefer to get caught up in controversies, just to stay in the headlines; this way or that, they just gotta be talked about!

Well, now the reality show “Big Boss” is in a mess. The Mumbai Youth Congress Committee (MYCC) has filed an FIR against the channel “Colors” on which the show is telecasted. The FIR was filed at Andheri Police Station against the channel, Endemol (the producers of the show), the contestants Paayal Rohatgi and Sambhavna Seth, and many others.

The allegation was that the there were certain obscene scenes in the reality show that were not suitable for family viewing. The complaint of Sunil Ahire, President of MYCC, reads something like this, “We have filed an FIR against the show for showing obscene acts on a family channel.” When the police demanded to view the tapes of the show they actually did find some substance to the allegation made by MYCC.

The problem apparently was that the outfit Payal Rastogi wore while she was in the pool. The participant’s take on this is, “This is a reality show, and participants in the Big Boss’s house are living as they would in real life. If I am getting into the swimming pool, naturally I am going to wear a swimming costume. If by doing this I have hurt the sentiments of people, then I am extremely sorry about that.”

Besides the above allegation there were many other mentioned in the FIR, like, the way Payal Rastogi and Rahul Mahajan behaved in the pool, the language of the participants; which is rather abusive, and the dance of Seth and Chaudry together.

Well, maybe the MYCC is pushing it a way too far. If the whole family can sit and watch the movie “Murder” (with Malika Sherewat perpetually in a bikini) together on Sony Entertainment Television, then “Big Boss” should be just fine. The channel, of course is enjoying the lime light!
