“ New Home”for Tatas’ Nano -Sanand in Gujarat

Tata Motors Nano has now found a “new Home” –Sanand in Gujarat. From Singur in West Bengal to Sanand, Nano has made a major shift for conducive atmosphere in carrying out production of the world’s smallest car. The Gujarat Chief Minister, Narender Modi has played his cards well by managing to woo the Tatas in investing in his state.

The Sanand project will be on a larger scale than Singur and the capacity of the plant will be 5 lakh cars per year as compared to 3 lakh cars in Singur.

Rattan Tata plans to meet the production deadline in the coming quarter of this year. It is hoped that the first Nano will roll out. He hopes to contribute to the state industrially and will also be taking up marine biology and agriculture research within the state.

Incidentally, The Gujarat Government is BJP led and the Singur was under the purview of the Communists. Naturally, BJP has shown its preference for the private sector, particularly for large industrial giants such as the Tatas, whereas the Communists failed to woo the industrial giant due to their agrarian approach to politics pursued by Trinamool Congress chief, Ms. Mamata Banerjee. Both are of course ideologically poles apart, BJP being rightist in its policy formulations, whereas the Communists retaining their Leftist stance.
