Certificate Course(Diabetes) for Rural Doctors

Madras Medical College introduced a short course in diabetes. This course is aimed at doctors who come from a rural background. The course includes all the latest developments taking place in the field of diabetes so tat the doctors are better equipped to combat it.

The introduction for such a training was welcome because patients from villages had to flock to cities in order to get treated all these years.

Distance Mode

The course is designed in such a way that it can be taught by expert diabetologists in the distance mode.Contact classes is to be held for a couple of days per month at the selected colleges.

Courses Offered At:

The course is being offered at Kilpauk Medical College, MMC and some government medical colleges in Madurai and Thanjavur.

Madras Medical College (MMC) is the pioneer who offered a course in diabetes. It is only six months that Medical Council (India) has recognized the course.

Need For Such A Course

The incidence of diabetes causes kidney failure, heart attacks to name the most fatal diseases. Diabetes should be taken more seriously in order to stop the other diseases from occuring in the patients because of it. This course will help rural doctors to trace out the causes behind related diseases and treat them better.

Even with 60 trained doctors the authorities of the hospital attached to MMC are finding it difficult to help the influx of patients. The hospital needs more doctors. The hospital provides a thirty bedded ward only for dealing with diabetology complications. The cases are often referred by other departments of the hospital and the state also.

The Government is going to gain a lot in the long run as it is a fight for victory against a very deadly disease which take lives of many, annually.

Diabetes may finally have a cure through extensive stem cell research. But for now, diabetes can only be managed by drugs or food supplements that controls blood sugar. I take Alpha Lipoic acid and Chromium because they are helpful in regulating blood sugar.

the standard treatment for diabetes is Metformin but i also try to use alternative medicine in controlling diabetes. Alpha Lipoic Acid and Charantia seems to work well too against diabetes.

Diabetes today is mostly caused by a lifestyle that has less exercise and too much sugar. Diabetes can be easily avoided by just doing simple exercises each day like jogging and avoiding sugars. If you already have diabetes, exercise is still the best way to manage it. Food supplements like Charantia and Chromium also helps.
