Let Us Celebrate World Tourism Day 2008!!!

Today i.e. September 27, is celebrated as the World Tourism Day. This year’s theme for world’s tourism day, which is hosted in Peru, is “Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change.”

All around the world, the tourism sector is celebrating world tourism day with a number of festivities. Through this year’s theme, the tourism sector wants to focus on improving the climate and a creating better environment.

Why is World Tourism Day Celebrated?
The purpose of world tourism day is to remind us of the importance of tourism for the social, economic, and political growth of the nation. In 1970, September 27th, the statues of World Tourism Organization (WTO) were adopted by many countries. These statues of WTO played an important role in improving tourism all around the world.

The World Tourism Organization strives to enhance the social, economic and political benefits of tourism. It also seeks to minimize the negative environmental and social impacts of tourism.

Tourism plays a vital role in improving the world’s economy. Tourism is also responsible for creating many jobs and generating revenues for many developing countries. Apart from all these, the tourism industry enhances the quality of our life by improving the road connectivity and providing basic infrastructure.

We should be grateful to the tourism industry as it provides us an opportunity to visit wonderful places and enjoy their beauty. Also, it is a good idea to celebrate the world tourism day by going to your favorite tourist location.
