Cell Phone or a Car Key?

Sorry guys for not updating you, it’s been 2 weeks now. I was in the search of really exciting news. And today I came across this latest news and it claims to reduce some burden from your pockets (in weight as well as monetary terms, ;)). After cell phones taking the roles of MP3 player, Digital Camera and PDA, they are now ready to fit in the role of car keys.

This task of combining car key with cell phone is undertaken by NTT DoCoMo (a Japanese phone company), Nissan and Sharp. Since 2002 Nissan cars are available with smart keys. The smart cell key phone would be exclusively functional for Nissan Cars. The phone would be designed by Sharp and it will work on NTT DoCoMo services.

NTT DoCoMo, Nissan and Sharp are planning to demonstrate this smart cell key phone next week at Ceatec Japan. As explained by the company the working of smart cell key phone is very simple. You don’t have to do anything except you need to keep this smart key cell phone in your pocket. As you will approach your Nissan car, the special sensors in the car will identify the unique signal from your cell phone.

Once you get close enough to your car and touch the car door, the car sensors automatically unlocks the door. Besides unlocking the door the unique signal from the cell phone makes it possible to crank over the engine as you push the start button. In the process to make cell phones multifunctional I guess the next feature should be a pocket change.
