The boom has occurred because people today are more conscious about style and fashion than ever before. The rising demand in the jewellery designing has opened career opportunities for many.
There are short term diploma courses at various institutes all over India which you might opt for. There are certain pre-requisites for a jewellery designing course which are listed below:
- First comes a very creative mind and a thorough understanding of the consumer sensibility. It is very important for a student to have a mind which never stops innovating. There is a lot of new kinds of jewellery that are taking the market by storm,e.g. jewellery made out of paper, clay, and even jute.
- If an aspiring student has a background in painting then nothing as great as that. This is because though a lot of state-of-the-art mechanization has changed the designing scenario yet a master of a trade knows all nuances of it.
- Another thing is that if you do not genuinely have the knack for jewels or designing then the mere lure of money would not bring out the best job out of you which in turn would mean you are not right for this profession.
If you see that you have all the three then you are ready for a jewellery designing course. There are many institutions all over India , among which the most notable are NIFT(Delhi), The Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery(Delhi) and Aligarh Muslim University(Uttar Pradesh)are some good institutions to choose from. However, there are a number of other institutions which might also be useful.
