The last thing you need to worry about in Delhi is whether you’ll get what you’ve wanted or not. Yes, Delhi is not just a commercial city but being so, it is home to numerous arts, cultures, traditions and handicrafts you could illuminate your minds with. Though the best places to shop in Delhi are – Cannaught Place, Chandni Chowk and Karol Bagh, there are many more places to shop from when you set your feet in this ever-energetic capital city.

Handicrafts and Ethnic Wear
The areas around Cannaught Place such as Janpath, the Central Cottage Emporium, etc can help you fetch some of the best furniture, small gift hampers and ethnic wears. Circle around the Cannaught Place and you could get your hands on some of the exquisite cotton wears at Fab India for instance which comes out with a range of ethnic cotton wears such as long and short kurti’s, skirts, salwar suits, etc.

The Craft Museum located at Mathura road is yet another place with a rampant display of ceramics, shawls, paintings and lots more. These stuffs aren’t just antique and precious to look at but also come with a good bargain.

Hauz Khas Village
Hauz Khas Village as it is called because of the road being completely dotted with monuments, tombs and royalty from all around. This is the one of the favorite hubs for the elite crowd. Carefully meshed with restaurants, handicraft emporiums, branded show rooms, ancient silver antiques, furniture, fashion ensembles, jewelry, designer boutiques and carpet dealers, you could be making the best purchases for your house without getting tired.

Cannaught Place
Cannaught place is ideal for purchasing branded clothes. So you will have all the show rooms in a circle with such as Nike, Reebok, etc. The best part of Cannaught Place is that you’ll keep going round and round and never find it boring. Attached to Cannaught Place is the Janpath Market, a favorite amongst tourists and Indians for clothes, shoes and casual wear.

Cannaught Place also has some of the best chain of restaurants and fast food joints such as Mc Donald’s, Wimpy’s and not to forget Wenger’s, an all pastry and bread shop where you can find the best cookies, pastries, cakes, brownies and what not. The PVR Plaza is located at the heart of Cannaught Place. So if you want to rest your legs and catch up on a favorite movie, just walk in to end your shopping on royal treat.

Chandni Chowk
Chandni Chowk is best known for its “parathe wali gali” but apart from that it’s a great place to shop for bridal clothes and accessories that come at fairly affordable prices.

Karol Bagh
Karol Bagh is popular for clothes, shoes, accessories, musical instruments and also all kinds of hardware shops are available here.

Sarojini Nagar
Shopping at Sarojini Nagar (close to AIIMS – All India Institute of Medical Science) can be real fun and tiring to some extent because it’s huge. Sarojini is known for its cheap clothes, accessories, bags, shoes and lots more. There are small showrooms located inside but on the hole you could just go round and round buying things crazily because they come at such low cost. A little bit of bargaining works really well here. Casuals, cotton wears, slip-ons are some of the best purchases you can make here.

Dilli Haat
Dilli Haat is close to both Sarojini Nagar market and AIIMS. Dilli Haat is an ultimate display of finesse. Here different states come together make an extensive display of their products – saris, kurta’s, furniture, accessories, handicrafts, food and loads of fun, music and shows to look forward to. Infact, Dilli Haat organizers also keep in mind the celebration of important festivals unique to India, unique to a state such as diwali, dusshera, etc.

There are many other markets you could explore too and you’ll always find something unique about the market. For instance, the GK-M Block market, South Ex, Lajpat Nagar market and a market encapsulating the very fond memories of almost any and every Delhi University student, the Kamla Nagar Market located near highly-prized and esteemed colleges of India.
