Children should not be deprived of adventure. They should be allowed to play risky games according to a new study. Parents cause harm to the development of the child if they place restrictions on such activities of the children.

British researchers have observed that kids need to explore opportunities of adventure and should be able to challenge and test themselves in games involving a certain amount of risk. Many children are being deprived of such pleasure because their parents feel nervous about such adventurous activities of theirs. Parent do not want to expose them to such risks. They do not allow their children to play such games as hide and seek.

In present times, parents are depriving their children of many games, which children in earlier times played. Many freedoms, which children earlier had taken for granted, were not being allowed now. They are not allowed to play outside, which was considered to be very normal in the growth of the child, according to Adrian Voce, director of Play England, UK’s National Children’s Bureau, which sponsored the study.

Voce adds that it was the norm now for parents to accompany their child, and not him move around alone. It was difficult to do so as parents had time constraints. He feels if the parents do not have the time to accompany their child and children are not allowed to play alone, then they will spend more time on the computer. He feels such over protection of the child could affect his orher growth.

The study quotes several play providers who have shown how beneficial it is to allow children to take risks. According to them, risk-taking leads to more resilience among children. Children are better equipped to make judgments.
