Frozen Embryos are Healthier Babies

Frozen embryos turn out to be better as compared to fresh ones in producing healthy babies through vitro fertilization. In a study, researchers from Denmark observed that babies who were born after the embryo was thawed and of course implanted had birth weights, which were on the higher side. These babies were less likely to suffer abnormalities when compared to babies born out of fresh embryos.
Lead researcher, Dr. Anja Pinborg claims that only the high quality embryos survived the thawing and freezing process. Pregnancies were possible when there were good embryos to freeze.
The researchers belonging to the Copenhagen University, who came to this conclusion, compared 1,200 children, born out of frozen embryos between the years 1995 and 2006 with 17,857 infants, born from embryos that were fresh during the same period.
In the process of freezing embryos, couples can have considerable number of in-vitro fertilization treatment cycles belonging to the same egg collection. This reduces the number of ovary stimulation.
The eggs which have been placed 3 to 5 days in the womb for ovulation similar to the way fresh embryos are kept. Multiple births amounted to 27.3 per cent of the children who were born from fresh embryos. On the other hand, in the case of frozen embryos, it was around 14.2 per cent. Frozen embryo babies who were heavy on birth as compared to fresh embryo babies.
