Orissa is located on the east coast of India which is flanked by the Bay of Bengal. Considering its geographical space, Orissa is the ninth largest state in India. In terms of population, Orissa is the eleventh largest state in India. The state is also home to one of the largest dams in India, the Hirakund Dam.

- Sun Temple at Konark: The Sun Temple at Konark holds great religious significance. The Sun Temple was built as early as in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva. The temple is designed to take the shape of a chariot with seven horses and twelve wheels hat carry the Sun God, Surya across the heavens.
- Brahmeshwar Temple: This temple was built as early as in the 11 century and has small shrines at corners. This temple has internal embellishments too showing a variety of themes, cavalry, elephants, etc.
- Mukteswar Temple: The Mukteswar Temple is a distinct landmark of architectural development in Orissa. The temple is more often than not referred to be one of the “jewels” of Orissa because of its spectacular sculptures and designs.
- Rajarani Temple: This temple was built as early as in the 11 century and lies amidst beautifully laid gardens. Apart from the sculpted figures, the temple is also very popular for successive tiers that rise to about 18 m tower. Infact, the temple, its architecture and designs is a clear reminder of the Khajuraho temples.
