The Juhu Beach: “A Tryst with Fun, Food and Frolic”
Posted on May 17, 2008 in Travel by Prarthna
Juhu, located in the suburb of Mumbai, is one of the most affluent regions of Mumbai. Famous industrialists like Adi Godrej and popular bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan own their bungalows in Juhu. The Juhu beach neatly sweeps alongside the Juhu area. Flanked by Arabian Sea in the west and Santacruz and Vile Parle in the east, the Juhu beach is a fancy excursion for most people. There are popular beachfront hotels as well like Juhu Centaur which serve steaming coffee while you take a relaxed view of the gurgling waters, screechy children and courting couples at sunset.
Getting to the Juhu beach isn’t difficult. Buses, local trains, taxi’s and auto’s are ways you could reach the Juhu Beach. The nearest stations to the Juhu beach are – Santacruz, Vile Parle and Andheri.
The sunset and the stalls and/or restaurants steal the show. Tourists never fail to visit the Juhu beach when they are in Mumbai. Though the beach is cramped during the evenings owing to the sunset that everyone craves to see and during the weekends, the Juhu is something you shouldn’t miss on your trip to Mumbai just because you may bump into a pack of hooligans. It’s safe and advisable to go in groups.
Apart from the mouthwatering bhel puri, pani puri and pav bhaji available also at chowpatty (Mumbai), there is a plenty of water sports to engage in like scuba diving. Weekends are a peak time for all visitors and vendors alike. The Juhu beach in weekends is thronging with activities like fun-filled cricket, toy sellers, horse rides and loads more.
It isn’t a quite beach so tourists are cautioned not to take a dip or swim in the sea. Also, the Juhu beach is not quiet suitable for sun-bathing. Most visitors go there to take a glimpse of the sunset and to binge on the local dishes prepared on the sands.
The Juhu beach has its own charm with dazzling lights during carnival seasons towards the evening or night and with plenty of activities and fun happening all around. The Juhu beach also has been one of the famous shooting locales for dominating film industry in Mumbai. At the northern tip of the Juhu beach is the Versova beach which is home to the Koli fishing community also worth visiting.
The Juhu beach is juxtaposed with the richly populated Juhu area, an irony as against the crowd which meets each day at the beach. If you want to experience the joy of everything at its natural best – be it the people, spicy food varieties or sunset, Juhu beach is the place to visit.
