NASA Scholarshhip for Dalit Boy

Shridhar Kamble (17), a Dalit and son of a poor farm labourer has won the NASA scholarship to do research at the Colorado University for a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy, this coming August. Dalits, like Kamble, have been denied basic human rights for centuries, and receiving such a scholarship is an honour. His paper on galaxy evolution titled ‘Huge Blackholes Stifle Star Formation’ was appreciated by NASA, which accepted him into its fold as a junior scientist.

Kamble’s parent are indeed very proud of their son’s achievement. They always extended support in providing education, which has now opened doors for many opportunities.

Kamble had won the young scientist award from Bhabha Research Institute, while studying in class XII. He has a passion for Astronomy.
