YouTube Now with an Indian Touch

One of the most popular online video websites YouTube has launched its Indian edition: www.youtube.co.in. The Indian edition of YouTube is launched with features of localized search function and homepage. It also allows user to discover highly popular and relevant videos in India and to create and share videos. In this way Indian users can easily connect with other fellow Indian users as well as global users.
YouTube’s Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Steve Chen said that: “We are very excited to bring a local version of YouTube to India considering the passion of users here for music and entertainment.” He also said that: “YouTube India will not only offer Indian users more relevant content but also provide a platform to share unique and diverse culture and lifestyle with the largest online video community in the world.”

According to Sakina Arsiwala, YouTube’s International Manager, YouTube India would be highly benefited from the completely local experience highlighting the features mostly desired by the Indian users. She further added that YouTube is a simple medium to connect and converse with each other through videos. Anyone with camera phone or simple web camera can create content and converse with each other. YouTube provides a powerful platform to express yourself.
YouTube is a subsidiary of Google. Indian edition of YouTube has partners like Eros Entertainment, IIFA, Zoom TV, IIT Delhi, UTV, NDTV, Rajshri Films, Krishcricket, Ministry of Tourism and India TV. YouTube India aims to facilitate connections with non-resident Indian community.
Internationally YouTube is provided with content from partners like Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Group, NBA, BBC, CBS and The Sundance Channel. YouTube was created in the year 2005 to allow internet users to share song videos, movie clips and videos. In November, 2006 Google acquired YouTube.
