Shooting Gas Prices Surge Bike Sales in US

There is a demand for bicycles in US now. Spiraling fuel prices are forcing people to seek cheaper alternatives for commuting between small distances. Cycling to work is gradually becoming popular in US and indirectly paving the way for greener modes of conveyance.

Of the bikes available in the market Japanese bikes are the best in quality. To make bike riding comfortable electric bikes are there. Buying electric bikes is easier because it does not cost you much besides you don’t have to go through the process of insurance and other legal paraphernalia.

Electric bikes need to be charged so those who ride to workplaces, charge their bikes at offices. The advantage in using electric bikes is that it does not allow much pressure on your knees though you have to pedal.

Now that crude oil prices are soaring inspite of ethanol being in market. Ethanol production for the purpose of fuel has led to rise in food prices. At this point bikes seem to be the best option and especially for smaller distances. But nobody is talking about the public transport system which if used properly can pull out thousands of vehicles off the roads.

Public transport would not only be economical for individuals but also would require less oil imports if more and more people switch over to it. People are going from sport utility vehicles to small cars, adopting hypermiling, choosing bikes – nevertheless this fuel crisis would definitely lead to some sort of solution.

There are families in US who are thinking of owning one car and one bike as a cost-cutting strategy and save dollars to meet other expenses. Even for 200 metres there are people who drive cars. During this oil crisis, bikes seem to be the best option when it comes to traveling to nearby places like visiting someone in the next block or going to a super market, or to rent a video.

But bike riding can’t be enjoyable during severe winters, otherwise traveling bikes on a pleasant weather is a destressing experience and allows socialization. Bike riding also keeps one in shape and saves one time needed to work on a treadmill or static cycle. The most convenient feature of a bike is you need not worry about parking spaces. It is small and can be parked anywhere and there are portable bicycles produced by Montague that’s folding bikes.

In India vehicles and hotels are using the gas cylinders meant for domestic purposes. Gas prices in every budgetary session see an increase while households are struggling to keep things together. In some of the African countries there are food riots. The reaction to any sudden change in economy is always vivid and shocking in developing nations. People’s traditional habits have undergone change in developing countries as their survival is at stake while in developed nations the support structures help people to absorb shocks in a better manner.

With rising fuel prices will Tata still flood the market with its small cheap cars or are there those many takers yet? Are cycles going to be popular in an Indian urban scenario? In fact it would be very environment-friendly and safe provided people follow traffic rules.
