Madhuri Dixit honored with a Padma Shri

Bollywood’s original diva Madhuri Dixit could not have asked for a better birthday gift as President Pratibha Patil honored her with a PadmaShri.
Although many of us might feel that this award came in a bit later i.e. 24 years after Madhuri set her foot in Bollywood but Madhuri has no complaints.
“I have just done my work with all honesty. I have done it because I love it and I’m here because I love what I do. And everything else is just incidental. And if they have decided to honor me now… I respect that.”
Doting hubby Sriram Nene was also delighted. He said, “It’s a real honor and what else can you say when your wife is winning one of the highest awards in India and getting it from a woman President.”
Madhuri says she never aspired for awards but Padmashri is the highest civilian award and what better award than that.
