Add Social Networking Flavor to your Outlook Inbox with Xobni

Xobni Company (Inbox spelled backwards) has launched a free beta version of an application which will revamp your Outlook inbox. Basically the application called Xobni is an Outlook plug-in. This plug-in not only indexes your Outlook inbox for simplified searching but also adds a flavor of social networking to the inbox. This is helpful in identifying links between e-mail recipients.

Xobni extensively mines your e-mails in Outlook inbox and extracts key information like names, addresses and phone numbers from the message. All the information extracted is organized in what company calls as “highly intuitive sidebar”. It could be better explained with the help of an example: You had an e-mail correspondence with your co-worker. Now simply by clicking an e-mail from that person opens an information rich profile of that person in the sidebar. You can view your conversation statistics, phone number, and other people in that person’s contact. You also get information about current and previous e-mail threads, list of attachments that person has sent you and appointments.

The biggest advantage of this Outlook plug-in is that the information compilation is done by the application Xobni itself. Besides that you can check the information Xobni has compiled with the help of small information like phone number. In case you find the information wrong you can always correct and change it.

Xobni also provides a cool search function. The basic idea of this Outlook plug-in is to remove the necessity of search. Simply with a click on the contact address you get all information and attachments sent to you 6 months back. You just need to scroll down the list of attachments instead of waiting for Outlook to search that attachment for you.

Presently this cool plug-in is available for Outlook only but the company is planning to expand it to other mail clients in near future. Xobni is simply great and cool idea which will definitely change the whole picture of how you manage your mails.
