A cop turns out to be the thief himself and tries to swallow the money he took as a bribe in order to avoid being arrested.
Sub-inspector, R.Chandra Kiran Reddy of Humayun Nagar police station in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs.4,000 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau. In order to avoid arrest he swallowed all the eight Rs. 500 notes and ran. The shocked anti-corruption bureau also ran behind him.
The cop was acting smart. He got onto a running bus and was cornered by the anti-corruption officials who also managed to get onto to the same bus. The sleuths took the SI to the Osmania General Hospital, where he was made to cough out the 8 notes. Finally, he was arrested and is now behind bars.
The SI had demanded a bribe of Rs. 4,000 from Mohd Zakaria as a fee for not filing a charge sheet against him in a theft case registered against him at the Humayun Nagar police station. Although, Zakaria initially agreed to pay, but changed his mind and got in touch with the ACB. The case against Zakaria was filed by some relatives, which happened to be more of a family dispute.
The SI was in service for the past 17 years and will be produced in court.
