The desire to be rich, famous and known has gripped the young these days. Samyak Chakraborty is a CEO at eighteen, when boys and girls of his age are burning the midnight oil to clear the IITs, MBBS, MCA entrance examinations. He is the owner of Electronic Youth Media with almost 100 employees.

The chase for money, wealth and fame was the fever that the west was caught in decades ago and now that they have come over the dizziness of chasing those dreams while we have just started.

The redundancy of a school curriculum, fire in the belly, and new opportunities has ushered in more and more youth into entrepreneurship. Rather the decline in government jobs has shown the way. The climb to prosperity from poverty has always been a motivating factor in the middle class youth, which was earlier caught in social duties and mores.

The whole focus has changed. The question that broods over every well fed stomach is “what I am getting?” The urge to get value for money and service for oneself has driven people into business where they earn through offering services. As information technology related business requires low capital and lesser manpower, than any other services, makes it easier to tap this new generation business opportunity.

The wide middleclass educated youth remains untapped. Whoever enters first is the winner and the whole experience is heady indeed. Two thirds of world’s most rich and famous have always started young. So did the world’s richest guy Warren Buffet, the septuagenarian.

Many others had to start with doing odd jobs and thanks to dot.com emergence you just need the ability to read and write and which you can master well by the time you are in class six or seven. Little money is required for such ventures until your business blossoms.

With information flooding through various sources it is all a matter of testing and using. There are already few teenagers in the west who became millionaires in the field of social networking websites and others by using the internet. The story that circulates through the chain mail, that a person did not get a job with Microsoft for not having email id became a rich guy by selling tomatoes, is half truth.

The story needs a twist perhaps. The truth lies in using every opportunity that comes on your way rather than waiting for things to happen. Business for many boomed with information technology while others had tough time surviving.
