Why An Entrance Examination?

Summer time means entrance examinations. These entrance examinations to prestigious institutions have become inevitable. One has to complete the examination within the prescribed time limit. In other words, one should be confident enough to face the examination. It is a nerve-wrecking experience. One cannot take it up too lightly. Now the season is on for entrance examinations. New academic year begins. Why one needs courage to face these entrance examinations?
Entrance Examinations- A Must
The IIT entrance examination is few months away. Every student aspires to be an IITian. Getting admitted to these prestigious institutions is not easy. One has to burn the midnight oil. Many students attend coaching institutions and spend a lot of money in order to appear for the test. The test will be held in the summer and the heat will not deter the student from appearing for the examination.
The National School of Drama is also holding its preliminary test at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati and Delhi. This is also a prestigious admission. A theatre aspirant would like to clear the test. Monthly scholarship of Rs.3,000 has also been sanctioned for meeting academic expenses. Like in any entrance examination basic eligibility requirements have been laid down.
These entrance examinations comprise of two parts generally. The IIT examination for example has a written as well as an oral test. The National School of Drama entrance examination consists of an audition and a practical test. One has to do well on both the fronts. The interview assesses the personality of the aspirant and his or her communication skills.
These entrance examinations are held in different cities for the convenience of the students. The institutes would like to attract students from different parts of country. Anyone of any ethnic and religious background can appear.
The JIPMER entrance examination will be held at Chennai, Pondicherry, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram. The entrance examination will also be held for the MBBS course at Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research. The Manipal University has also announced its entrance examination for its Bachelor courses in hotel management, and catering technology and in journalism and communication studies. It is also holding entrance examinations in e- banking and finance, jewelry design and management and geopolitics and international relations.
It is quite evident that several courses offered are very popular and in great demand. Entrance examinations have to be held in order to select the right candidates. Seats are limited. Students do go through a lot of stress and tension till they land up with a seat. Marks determine the eligibility requirements. Cut-off stage is there. Only those having certain percentage of marks can appear.
NIT has a common entrance examination for its MCA course. It is being held in the month of May. The institute has laid down basic criteria for appearing for the examination.
Similarly, prestigious MBA institutions such as IIM also have a common entrance examination known as CAT.
Entrance examinations decide the fate of many students. Those who work hard and prepare well do well in entrances examinations held by prestigious institutions. These examinations help the institutions to screen through the list of students applying for the course and select the best.
